Biography

Mustafa Avkıran was born in Gaziantep in 1963. After graduating from the Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory in 1983, he started working at the Istanbul State Theatre. He completed master′s degree in Theater at the State Conservatory. In 1993-1995, Avkıran worked as a director at the Antalya State Theatre. He founded the 5. Sokak Theatre with Övül Avkıran and Naz Erayda. In 2000, Avkıran also established İSM 2. Kat with Theatre Oyunevi. He is one of the founders of Garajistanbul where he serves as an art director. Avkıran has performed in many films and TV series such as "Bilal Ağa," "Ezo Gelin," "Kınalı Kar," "Kuzey Güney," and "Menekşe ile Halil." In 1995, he received "Best Supporting Actor" award in the International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. Besides being an actor, Avkıran is a musician and performs at the Garajistanbul.
