Sarajevo native, Boris Mojsovski now lives in Toronto and works mostly in North America and Europe. He explored writing, philosophy, fine art and photography before studying film at St. Cyril Academy and York University. A photographer by trade, Boris concentrated his early cinematic efforts toward directing and writing only to parallel the two with cinematography as the natural extension of his photographic upbringing. Boris, the son of cinematographer Levko Mojsovski, was surrounded with film and photo cameras since birth. Boris’ photographic education continued throughout his childhood – his father would (lovingly but brutally) criticize his photographs, making him understand lighting, exposure and composition. In addition to his deep knowledge of traditional photographic techniques, Boris’ understanding of writing and film theory has helped him develop an authentically unique and powerful cinematographic style, yet Boris’ cinematographic opus is intentionally diverse. He has lensed films for major studious, networks and independents as well as commercials, plays and art installations. Boris believes in the uniqueness of the cinematic language and Cinema as its own independent art form. His work has been seen at the Sundance, Toronto, Berlin, San Francisco, Los Angeles, SXSW, Karlovy Vari and many other film festivals.
