Nikos Alevras was born in 1948 in Piraeus, Greece. He studied (1967-1970) at the Stavrakos Film School. In 1969 he worked on Theo Angelopoulos’ first feature Reconstruction where he also had an important role. In 1974 he won the Best Director Award at the Thessaloniki Film Festival for his short film My Grandfather. In 1975 he started working in Greek television. In 1977 he made the feature A Hail of Bullets that was banned by public prosecutors.
