Born in the island of Ikaria in 1950. He studied acting and film directing in Athens. He has worked as an actor with various pioneering theatrical companies as well as with municipal and state theatres and has directed cultural and historical documentaries for Greek TV (ET1-ET2), covering national and social movements in the islands of the Aegean Sea. He has also directed a series of half hour cultural films for children and two short films. Leonidas Vardaros is known for All of Us, Efendi (1998), O hafies (1984) and Tis Nikarias oi Zevkalides: I mousiki kai o horos stin kathimerini zoi ton Ikarioton (2009).
