The 76th Cannes Film Festival is drawing to a close on the Croisette. Together, we discover the winners of the Un Certain Regard selection, which showcases auteur cinema, revealed to the public this Friday, 26 May 2023.
After 11 days of intense festivities, the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival is drawing to a close, and the awards are starting to roll in! This is particularly true of the Un Certain Regard selection, whichfocused on auteur and discovery cinema, and included nineteen films in competition this year.
The Jury, chaired by actor John C. Reilly, and including French director and screenwriter Alice Winocour, German actress Paula Beer, French-Cambodian director and producer Davy Chou and Belgian actress Émilie Dequenne, handed out its awards on Friday, 26 May 2023. Six films received awards at the end of the ceremony, followed by the screening of the closing film, Une Nuit, directed by Alex Lutz. This year, the titles of the awards were chosen by the jury, each symbolizing a specific aspect of the winning film. Focused on arthouse, artistically daring films, the 2023 Un Certain Regard selection has included 20 feature films – 8 of which are first features also competing for the Caméra d’or. This year, the opening film was Thomas Cailley’s Le Règne animal.
