Call for Entry - 77th Cannes Film Festival

The Cannes Film Festival is accepting school student films (until February 15, 2024), short films (until March 1, 2024) and feature films (until March 8, 2024).

Feature Films - in Official Selection 

– Films must have been produced during the twelve months preceding the Festival.
– Films that have not been released anywhere other than their country of origin.
– Films should be more than 60 minute long.
– Films that have not have been presented in another international film festival (if the film was screened in an international selection, competitive or otherwise, of a festival, it is not eligible for the Festival de Cannes – a selection is international once it screens films from different countries).
– Films that have not been shown on the internet or release on DVD.
– Every feature film invited to be in competition must be release theatrically in France in accordance with French legislation pertaining to media chronology rules. Any beneficiary, producer or authorize representative submitting a feature film commits to honoring this clause.
– Once a film has been selected it cannot be withdrawn from the Festival programme during the event.
– All films must be presented in their original language, with French subtitles. By “Original language” is meant the language in which a film is or will be exhibited in its country of origin.
– Submission must be done via the official website.
– Submission fees: 
* DVD Standard or Blue-ray Disc – 50 Euros
* Upload online – 60 Euros
* DCP (Digital Cinema Package) – 300 Euros

Short Films - In Competition 

– Films must have been produced during the twelve months preceding the festival.
– Short films should not exceed the 15-minute mark in length, including credits.
– Films who distribution is limited to their country of origin.
– Films that have not been presented at any other international motion picture event.
If the film has been selected in an international section (competitive or not) of a festival, it becomes ineligible for the Festival de Cannes. A selection is international if it presents films from different countries.
– Films that have not been shown on the internet.
– Once a film has been selected it cannot be withdrawn from the Festival programme during the event.
– Short films must be directly uploaded during the registration process. No short film sent in other formats (DVD, BluRay, Mini DV, Beta, etc) will be viewed.
– The festival accepts films without subtitles if the original language is French or English. Films should have French or English subtitles for all other original languages.
– Submission must be done via the official website.
– Submission Fee: FREE

Short and Mid-length Films from Film Schools - La Cinef 

– Films must have been directed by a student within his/her film school curriculum.
– Films must have been made during the 18th months preceding the Festival.
– Films have not been presented at major international festival. However, a film can have been shown at a festival in its country of origin.
– Film should not exceed the 60-minute mark in running time.
– Films made at Junior secondary school or High school level are not accepted for selection in this section of the Festival. ONLY films produced in the context of a Film school or Film studies department of a University are eligible.
– Documentaries are not accepted.
– Films from film school have to be registered with the LA CINEF Selection and cannot be registered for the Short Film Competition.
– Short films (from 1 to 35 minutes) can also be registered in the Short Film Corner, a meeting place dedicated to short film within the Festival de Cannes. More info: http://www.cannescourtmetrage.com/en/

The 77th Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 14 – 25, 2024 in Cannes, France.
