The Official Selection for the 76th edition of Cannes Film Festival will be announced on 13 April 2023 at 11am CEST. This year’s festival will run from 16 to 27 May 2023.

Two films have already been confirmed for the festival: Martin Scorsese’s Killers Of The Flower Moon starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Lily Gladstone; and Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny with Harrison Ford. Both will be in the Official Selection.

The world premiere of Killers of the Flower Moon will mark the return of the filmmaker to the Official Selection for the first time since the presentation of After Hours in 1986.  The film will be screened on Saturday, May 20 in the Grand Théâtre Lumière. Based on David Grann’s best-selling book and written for the screen by Eric Roth and Martin Scorsese, Killers of the Flower Moon is set in 1920s Oklahoma and depicts the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, a string of brutal crimes that came to be known as the “Reign of Terror”.  Hailing from Apple Studios, Killers of the Flower Moon was produced alongside Imperative Entertainment, Sikelia Productions and Appian Way. Producers are Martin Scorsese, Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas and Daniel Lupi, with Leonardo DiCaprio, Rick Yorn, Adam Somner, Marianne Bower, Lisa Frechette, John Atwood, Shea Kammer and Niels Juul serving as executive producers. The Apple Original Film Killers of the Flower Moon will first be released exclusively in theaters, in partnership with Paramount Pictures, limited on Friday, October 6 and wide on Friday, October 20, in the United States. The French release is set on 18 October, 2023. It will then stream globally on Apple TV+.

Indiana Jones returns to the Festival de Cannes for the world premiere of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, directed by James Mangold, starring Harrison Ford as the legendary hero. The film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel, with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas serving as executive producers. John Williams, who has scored each Indy adventure since the original “Raiders of the Lost Ark” in 1981, has once again composed the score. 15 years after the presentation in 2008 of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull directed by Steven Spielberg, the final installment of the LucasFilm saga will be screened on 18 May 2023 in Cannes and will be released in theaters on 28 June 2023 in France and 30 June 2023 in the United States. On this occasion, the Festival will also pay a special tribute to Harrison Ford for his career.

Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City is rumored to be in the program of the festival. The film will be released in cinemas from 16 June 2023.
