Triangle of Sadness wins Palme d`Or at Cannes Film Fest

The 75th Cannes Film Festival has revealed this year`s award winners and the recipient of its prestigious Palme d`Or. The festival was held 17-28 May 2022.

In addition to the film`s honored, Forest Whitaker received a Palme d`Or for his career, and Tom Cruise was awarded a surprise honorary Palme d`Or while in town promoting Top Gun: Maverick near the beginning of the festival.
The top prize went to Triangle of Sadness (Sweden, France, UK, Germany) directed by Ruben Östlund. The Jury Prize went to Polish/Italian coproduction EO directed by Jerzy Skolimowski, and The Eight Mountains / Le Lotto Montagne (Italy, Belgium, France, UK) directed by Charlotte Vandermeersch and Felix Van Groeningen. 

Romanian director Alexandru Belc won the Certain Regard’s Best Director prize for Metronom.

Best director: Park Chan-wook for Decision to Leave
Best screenplay: Boy From Heaven
Best actress: Zar Amir Ebrahimi for Holy Spider
Best actor: Song Kang-ho for Broker
Camera d`Or: Gina Gammell and Riley Keough for War Pony
Short film Palme d`Or: The Water Murmurs
Special Mention:  Melancholy of My Mother’s Lullabies, directed by Abinash Bikram Shak 
Un Certain Regard Prize: The Worst Ones, directed by Lise Akoka and Romane Gueret
