Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Quo Vadis, Aïda?, the latest film by Jasmila Zbanic and Romania’s documentary Collective by Alexander Nanau made it in this year’s Oscar shortlists in the International Feature Film selection. The selection has been expanded to 15 titles this year. The list includes the frontrunner, Thomas Vinterberg’s Another Round, alongside France’s Two of Us, the first feature by Filippo Meneghetti (also nominated for a Golden Globe),  Norway’s Hope by Maria Sødahl, Czech Republic’s Charlatan by Agnieszka Holland (whose pictures have already been nominated for an Oscar in 1992 and 2011), Russia’s Dear Comrades by Andrey Konchalovskiy, Chile’s The Mole Agent by Maite Alberdi, Guatemala’s La Llorona by Jayro Bustamante, Ivory Coast’s Night of the Kings by Philippe Lacôte and Tunisia’s The Man Who Sold His Skin by Kaouther Ben Hania.

The Documentary shortlist also features Collective, which could lead to a fresh double-nomination feat, such as that achieved by the North Macedonian title Honeyland last year.
