Gaja`s World, a coming-of-age film directed by Peter Bratuša, has become the most watched film in Slovenia in 2018. It was seen by more than 59,000 people since its release in late September.
The film was awarded best film in the teen/children’s section at the Motovun Film Festival.
Gaja’s World was produced by Felina Films and coproduced by RTV Slovenija and Viba Film with support from the Slovenian Film Centre. The film, which had a budget of 623,000 EUR, racked up 14,363 admissions and box office of 48,250 EUR in its first week in release.
Gaja is a feisty 11-year-old girl coping with her parents’ separation and trying to help her older sister, who gets entangled in online threats and crime. The cast includes young newcomers, Tara Milharčič as Gaja, Neža Smolinsky as Tea and Anže Gorenc as her best friend Matic.
The film, released on 28 screens, is distributed by Karantanija.
