The last fifteen years of the Ceausescu communist regime were, without question, the worst in Romania's history. Not surprisingly, the Ceausescu propaganda machine shared a different opinion, referring to that period as "the golden age". By adapting the period's most popular myths, Golden Palm winner Cristian Mungiu (4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days) recaptures the humorous spirit that kept Romanians alive during their darkest hour.
