Synopsis:

Sofia, Bulgaria 1968. A State Security secret agent and a young opera singer, also undercover agent, who’s mission are to spy on each other raise a danger game and fall in love. Lieutenant of State Security Naydenov, who oversees musician circles from the Conservatory, falls in love with the opera singer Pavlina, whom it is his task to watch. In the course of his stormy affair with Pavlina, Naydenov reveals himself to her as a secret agent and even try to help the woman he loves attempt to escape to the West. But it turns out that Pavlina herself had been secretly working for State Security, and assigned to watch Naydenov. All along, the Service was conducting an internal operation to oversee its own people. Pavlina’s task had been to discover potential traitors within the ranks of the Service. Nothing ends as expected. Finally, Pavlina is shot by the gards when trying to escape across the border, whereas Naydenov is promoted for his part in a successful operation, about which he knew nothing…
