Synopsis:

Eugene is a Ιοw-grade, poorly paid city employee, a humble and shy dreamer who attracts the meanness and immorality of his social environment like a magnet. He is bullied by his father-in-Ιaw, a retired police commissioner, by his wife Coula, a sexually frustrated shrew, submissive οηΙγ to her Daddy, by his supervisor and by Frieda, the German «nanny» who is the real but invisible power in this weird household. Eugene accepts his fate placidly but seeks refuge in a fictitious world far from bleak reality. Ιn the evenings he becomes Humphrey Bogart and wanders in Athens' underworld posing as aη «urban Robin Hood» and adopting Bogie's manners and behavior. When Eugene, by sheer coincidence, witnesses a hold-υρ at the bank where he has gone to ρaγ a bill, the robbers take him as hostage. As a result of the widespread media coverage the event receives, the exaggerated eye-witness accounts and police inefficiency, Eugene emerges as the legendary leader of a terrorist gang. Even Areti the female bartender he met one night believes she is involved with aη invincible outlaw and a great love story is born. When Eugene manages to persuade the young hoods who hold him captive that he really is the hero described by the press and taiks them into working for him, he is set free and wanders in the streets of Athens in disguise. He meets Areti again and has the opportunity to start a new life. But his sensibίlity and humanity....
