The Hourglass is a story about Hungarian-Jewish-Serbian family that is being portrayed through search of already grown up son. In his search he tries to restore his childhood from dreams and memories. An already sunken world, the world of mid European town with its figures, looms up from visions of a delicate boy and his father, who, running from fears that destroy bones, and ultimate humiliation, ends up in fake lunacy and becomes lonely clown in a drama of life. The Hourglass is the anatomy of senseless hatred and fear. However, warmth and irony that immerge from story, do not allow the story to become one more story about pain and suffering. The Hourglass is based on the novels by Danilo Kiš.
