Bells, Threads & Miracles

Synopsis:

Every year, on April 23rd, at least 100,00 Muslims visit the Christian Monastery of Saint George on Prince’s island, off the coast of Istanbul, to pray for a miracle. They ask for a house, a car, a baby, a computer, or to be cured of an illness. Irrespective of religion, culture or ethnic origin, at some point in our lives we all feel the need to believe in miracles. The film explores this universal human need, the ways in which it is expressed and the consequences it brings, by following Suha and Deniz, a Muslim couple, and Diamantis, a Christian, during their visit to the monastery. These are people that belong to a different culture and religion, yet share the same Saint. But will the Saint grant their wishes as he did last year? Are miracles possible in this day and age?
