A... Daring Story

Synopsis:

As in his previous films, once again Dimitris Makris has turned to a book (Nikos Dimos' "Daring Stories") in his search for a story. His protagonist, a writer who is married to a painter, allows his imagination to take him to the only earthly paradise he knows - the realm of the senses where ecstasy is equivalent to law and order. The Writer's wanderings take him down paths that lead to orgasm, that superb dance of war and submission. He observes the humiliation of the lovestruck, fifty-five year-old Professor whose passionate involvement with eighteen year-old Aurora leads to his being ostracised by stuffy small-town society. Then he plans the sexual (both symbolic and provocative) union of the hermit Monk and the whore Magdalene. Finally the Writer witnesses the death of his father, a recluse, who has shut himself up in his house and finds an outlet in constantly doping himself with a steady diet of hard-core porno films.. And so, after wandering in the domains where myth, prejudice and personal ghosts meet the collective subconscious and the story of eroticism, death comes to underline its primeval relationship with sexual liberation. And the writer who "sees" his own murder by his wife, is now in a position to take the substance of dreams and place it on the blank pages, just as the film director makes films out of his images.
