During the organisation’s meeting, held at the Venice Film Festival (28 August-7 September), the board unanimously agreed to accept the application submitted by the Albanian National Center of Cinematography (ANCC). The ANCC will thus join as an associate member, a status reserved for countries that are members of the Council of Europe but not of the EU.

“We are delighted to welcome Albania to our European family. We look forward to this fruitful cooperation,” said Chris Marcich, EFAD president.

“I believe that the reunification of our continent passes first and foremost through its culture and knowledge. That’s why EFAD is a great instrument for sharing knowhow and best practices in order to foster support for European cinematographic creation,” added ANCC head Eol Çashku.

Based in Tirana and established in 1997, the ANCC is the only public agency financing and promoting the country’s film production worldwide.
