Bosnian, Romanian and Turkish films in the Main Competition in Karlovy Vary

Bosnian, Romanian and Turkish film will battle for the Crystal Globe at the 52nd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic from 30 June till 8 July.

The main competition program includes the film Men Don`t Cry, written and directed by Alen Drljevic, produced by Deblokada Sarajevo. It is a atory about a group of war veterans former members of various armies that fought each other in the former Yugoslavia. They are participants of the workshop which aims to deal with the past. However, the former antagonisms is again coming to the surface ... The cast includes Boris Isakovic, Leon LucevEmir Hadzihafizbegovic, Ermin BravoSebastian Cavazza, Boris LerIvo Gregurevic, Primož PetkovšekIzudin Bajrovic, Jasna Djuricic and Miralem Zupcevic. The main producers of the film are Damir Ibrahimovich and Jasmila Zbanic and the film is realized in co-production with Iridium Film (Slovenia), Živa Production (Croatia), Manderley Film (Germany) and This & That (Serbia), and the German TV ZDF and the Federal TV. The rest of the authorial team of the film are: Mirza Hamzic (executive producer), Erol Zubcevic (director of photography), Zoran Solomun (co-writer), Quiet Ler (set designer), Sanja Dzeba (costume designer), Mojca Gorogranc (make up), Vladimir Gojun (Editor) and Igor Camo (sound designer) and Fabrika Sarajevo for postproduction services. 

Romanian film Breaking News by Iulia Rugina is also competing for the Crystal Globe. The film is produced by Hai-Hui Entertainment in coproduction with Libra Film Production. The film is supported by Romanian Film Center - CNC. It is a psychological journey of redemption that turns into a coming-of-age experience for a 35 year old famous news reporter who, in a crucial moment of his life, discovers that things have somehow taken a wrong turn.

Turkey also makes a strong showing with two films in the East of the West competition and a third film in the main competition. "More" (Daha ) by Onur Saylak will compete in the Main Competition program. It is an adaptation of the book by Hakan Günday. Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan, Hayat Van Eck, Tuba Buyukustun, Ugur Aslan, Turgut Tuncalp, Tankut YildizKaan UlucaLara AysalOnur Akgülgil and Pervin Bagdat play the main roles.

In all, 12 films will screen in the main competition, 12 in the East of the West competition, and 11 in the documentary competition.
